Growth worth sustaining.

The medicines we develop, the information we use and the resources behind our work all belong to a wider system. Our sustainability direction is to understand that footprint early and make growth more deliberate. It connects company operations with the Resource Economics questions we investigate: what enters a process, what becomes useful output and what it costs to improve the result.

2045 | The direction already on record.

NEUVIOR’s retained carbon plan, dated 10 April 2026, records a company-wide net-zero commitment for Scope 1, Scope 2 and all relevant Scope 3 by 2045. It also states that the first full emissions inventory is still in progress. The commitment and the inventory are different parts of the record; the target is not a measured reduction.

The original plan is retained alongside a newly designed current-position companion. The companion makes the documented direction, evidence gaps and proposed next work easier to read. It does not introduce a new signature, approved baseline or quantified carbon result.

Build the footprint from the actual work.

For a growing research and technology company, useful starting records include computing and cloud services, equipment, purchased services, travel and workspaces. Direct emissions and the wider value chain still need assessment. Materiality should come from the inventory rather than a guess that a digital company has no physical footprint.

The next inventory needs a consistent entity, period, boundary and method. Source records and calculation factors should remain connected to the figures. When information is incomplete, the useful response is an explained gap and an improvement action, rather than a zero that makes the chart look cleaner.

Evergreen | Prepare the evidence. Earn the level.

We are organising the immediate evidence work around NHS Evergreen Level 2 preparation while retaining Level 3 as the wider ambition. No current assessment result was located in the reviewed site records, and neither level is presented as achieved. The NHS assessment is a sustainability maturity record; research funding and a well-designed policy page do not create a score.

The current April 2026 Level 2 matrix brings the reporting boundary to a global level across all relevant scopes. Level 3 goes further through a 2045 target, independent target validation and emissions verification, and modern-slavery assessment. The official framework remains the reference at the time of assessment.

Responsible company growth

What evidence turns a commitment into progress?

A target, an inventory and an assessment result answer different questions. Inspect the records that would connect NEUVIOR’s retained commitment with a credible operating review. The journey makes missing evidence visible and helps a prospective customer distinguish documented direction from measured performance or a level actually achieved.

Customers, procurement teams and responsible investors

Editorial decision model, not measured NEUVIOR results.

A customer needs evidence appropriate to the requirement.

The customer can identify whether a commitment is documented, whether relevant emissions have been calculated and whether an assessment result exists. This prevents a polished sustainability statement from doing the work of evidence that a procurement process actually requires.

Check the requirement applicable to the intended contract.

In focus

Recorded direction

The retained April carbon plan records a net-zero commitment. That document establishes the direction on record, while the unfinished inventory means it cannot yet supply a measured company-wide reduction or a completed emissions baseline.

A useful next step

Read the commitment and identify its entity and scope.

Visible evidence gaps make a sustainability discussion more useful than an unsupported maturity badge.

Responsible supply belongs beside carbon.

NEUVIOR’s voluntary Modern Slavery Assessment and Statement is preserved as its signed source record. It describes supplier expectations, proportionate due diligence, training and review commitments. The policy should be followed by evidence of implementation; its signature should not be turned into a generic certification badge.

The same discipline applies to future B Corp work. It remains a planned journey. We want the public record to show the milestone that has actually been reached and the work needed for the next one.

A more useful operating review.

The April carbon plan describes virtual collaboration, travel choices, efficient computing, longer device use and supplier screening as measures in effect or being embedded. A current review should identify which are demonstrably operating and what evidence supports them. The proposed inventory programme will help determine where further effort is most useful.

A future update should show baseline and current emissions, the reporting method, meaningful changes in scope and the approval record. The purpose is a practical account of improvement as the company develops, with the numbers and decisions available for review.

An external perspective

A claim needs something behind it.

The CMA introduces its Green Claims Code. Watch with a proposed environmental statement in mind: what is being claimed, what supports it and what might a reader reasonably take from it?

Watch with these questions in mind

  • Compare a broad environmental phrase with the evidence needed to support it.
  • Check the scope of a claim before using it to describe a product, service or whole organisation.
