Five questions to test whether an AI stack is truly under your control
In TechRadar Pro, Varun Sharma sets out five tests for enterprise AI control across provenance, infrastructure, legal authority and safe exit.
NEUVIOR summary
Control is the ability to prove, operate and leave.
An enterprise may be able to access an AI system without controlling the dependencies, infrastructure, legal rights or exit path on which it relies.
Varun Sharma's TechRadar Pro article proposes five questions that force control to become testable rather than rhetorical.
Prove exactly what is running.
A controlled stack needs attributable versions, model and dependency records, configuration and a route to reconstruct which components influenced an output or decision.
Separate access from operational authority.
Contracts and dashboards do not automatically create control. Organisations need clear rights over critical dependencies, infrastructure operation, security response, continuity and material change.
Test the exit before it is urgent.
The ability to stop, switch or dispose of a system safely is part of control. An exit path should cover data, derived artefacts, access, continuity and the evidence needed to confirm completion.
