Patients, carers & communities

The people receiving care are affected by the design of a medicines service and deserve a meaningful place in its evaluation.

In development · Intended scope and questions for evaluation

The organisation.
The people around it.

Moving a service closer to home may still create travel, appointment, information or follow-up burdens. An evaluation needs to make those visible.

The people involved

Patients, carers, patient and public involvement contributors and community representatives.

The dependencies

Clinical and pharmacy teams, service designers, patient and public contributors, carers and relevant community organisations.

What to examine

Who could benefit, who could be excluded, what extra work reaches the person or carer, and how their experience would inform the evaluation.

The decision worth examining.

What should a programme consider about access, communication, burden, experience and the outcomes people value?

Moving a service closer to home may still create travel, appointment, information or follow-up burdens. An evaluation needs to make those visible.

Develop the programme around the setting.

Begin with the local need, relevant evidence, existing work and an agreed comparison. A proposed programme needs clear activities, alternatives, resources and reasons to revise or reject it.

Who could benefit, who could be excluded, what extra work reaches the person or carer, and how their experience would inform the evaluation.

Give each participant a workable role.

Clinical and pharmacy teams, service designers, patient and public contributors, carers and relevant community organisations.

The overall case and the position of each necessary participant deserve separate examination. Staff time, cash timing, capacity, access, commitments and full costs can change which arrangement is practical.

Make the evaluation useful to a decision.

Identify an accountable sponsor, the current process, the permitted information and what a worthwhile finding would allow the organisation to decide. Include preparation, checking, correction, implementation and support in the comparison.

PHARMORIS is in development. This page describes intended scope and a possible evaluation conversation; it does not establish customers, operational deployment, clinical validation or realised benefit.

PHARMORIS is being developed for organisational medicines-programme work. This website does not provide personal treatment advice or a patient-facing prescribing service.

Discuss a PHARMORIS evaluation

An initial conversation should describe the organisational question. Agree the purpose and information requirements before sharing records.
