Pharmaceutical infrastructure
From medicines intelligence to medicines development: the founder thesis connecting NEUVIOR and VARUNÉ Labs
Varun Sharma explains how medicines intelligence, formulation, development and future manufacturing can inform one founder thesis while each company, concept and capability retains its true operating status.
The pharmaceutical problem does not end when you identify the opportunity
You can know that a medicine pathway should change and still fail to change it. The evidence may be strong, the policy direction clear and the financial pressure urgent, yet the work can stall between clinical review, finance, procurement, implementation and local ownership. That is the gap PHARMORIS is being built to address: not discovery itself, but the operating system required after a useful signal appears.
But there is a second gap. Even when an institution can make a better medicines decision, the wider pharmaceutical system may still lack the formulation pathway, development capability, resilient supply or manufacturing route needed to carry the opportunity further. My long term thesis is that medicines intelligence and medicines capability should not live in separate worlds. They should inform one another while remaining honest about what exists today.
PHARMORIS starts with the work institutions already need to do
Healthcare organisations already have data, policy, professional judgement and people who care about doing the right thing. The friction is often in the hand off. A signal becomes a meeting, the meeting becomes a document, the document enters another queue and nobody can see the full thread from evidence to decision to delivery. PHARMORIS is designed to give that thread a governed working record: the ActionCase.
The destination is practical. An authorised team should be able to see why an opportunity exists, what evidence supports it, what is unknown, who holds the next decision, which blockers matter and how the result will later be reviewed. Technology can structure that work, but it cannot inherit the professional or institutional authority of the people responsible for it. PHARMORIS therefore remains human governed by design.
Why intelligence alone will never be the complete company
A software product can help a buyer make a better decision. It cannot, by itself, formulate a medicine, generate a development package, build a quality system, secure the relevant approvals or manufacture medicines to provide a resilient supply. If NEUVIOR wants to matter across the life of a medicine, it must learn how those capabilities connect without pretending they can all be switched on at once.
That is why the company architecture is designed in layers. Understand the opportunity through medicines intelligence. Develop the justified proposition through formulation, research and the right scientific partnerships. Deliver only when demand, quality, regulatory readiness, economics and operating capability support the move. Each layer strengthens the next, but each also has its own evidence gate.
VARUNÉ Labs is the development and infrastructure horizon
VARUNÉ Labs is a predevelopment programme operated by NEUVIOR, exploring how medicines, formulation, intelligent systems and future manufacturing infrastructure could connect in one Scottish campus environment. The concept matters because development is not just a scientific activity. It depends on facilities, talent, quality systems, data, energy, logistics, partnerships and the ability to move a programme through defined technical decisions.
Today, the word predevelopment is essential. VARUNÉ Labs should not be read as a built campus, secured site, funded construction programme, licensed manufacturing operation or current laboratory capability. The purpose of publishing the concept is to make the direction legible: this is the infrastructure layer the founder thesis is working towards, and these are the questions that must be answered before it becomes real.
The connection is a sequence, not a decorative group chart
NEUVIOR is the current pharmaceutical company. PHARMORIS is its immediate product priority. VARUNÉ Labs is a predevelopment programme founded by Varun Sharma and operated by NEUVIOR PHARMACEUTICALS LTD (SC857853), exploring medicines, novel formulations, generics, skincare, fragrance research and longer range manufacturing planning. It is not a separate legal company or a VARUNÉ Biosystems subsidiary. It becomes valuable when recurring problems in medicines systems can shape research priorities, development evidence can improve operating decisions and future delivery constraints can be considered before a programme is designed too narrowly.
This does not mean every PHARMORIS opportunity becomes a NEUVIOR medicine, or that software recommendations should drive a development portfolio automatically. Human governance, conflicts management, data rights, regulatory responsibilities and independent scientific review remain necessary. Integration should improve the quality of the question, not remove the people accountable for the answer.
Why Scotland belongs in the long term plan
NEUVIOR was established in Scotland and Glasgow remains the company’s origin and registered base. Scotland offers a serious combination of life sciences capability, universities, advanced manufacturing ambition, public innovation infrastructure and international connectivity. The VARUNÉ Labs concept evaluates how those advantages could support a medicines and technology campus direction over time.
A compelling location story is not the same as site control or permission to build. Any real campus route would require land and technical diligence, utilities and infrastructure assessment, a planning strategy, environmental work, a credible capital plan, operating partners and a sequenced quality and regulatory model. Those are not footnotes. They are the actual work that turns a visual idea into an investable and governable programme.
What progress would look like
The next version of the thesis should become more specific, not merely larger. For PHARMORIS, progress means a better defined buyer problem, an evaluation workflow that institutions can test, a defensible assurance route and evidence that the product makes accountable work clearer. For medicines development, progress means prioritised scientific questions, credible partners, source and intellectual property rights, defined technical milestones and a commercial reason to continue.
For VARUNÉ Labs, progress means moving through predevelopment gates: a clear operator and legal structure, location and site diligence, a phased facility brief, utilities and logistics evidence, planning and regulatory pathways, partner demand, a capital sequence and an operating model that does not depend on a single grand announcement. The concept earns credibility when each unknown becomes an owned workstream and each decision leaves a source record.
The customer outcome remains the test
The integrated pharmaceutical thesis can sound ambitious, but the test is simple: does it create a better future for the person or institution making the decision? A medicines team should spend less energy reconstructing the history of an opportunity. A development programme should begin with a clearer understanding of real operating need. A future facility should be designed around evidence of demand and process, not around an empty desire to own a building.
NEUVIOR will look more substantial in one year when these connections are real in the operating model: stronger product evidence, deeper scientific capability, better public thinking, clearer ownership and a credible sequence for physical infrastructure. It should never look more operational in one year than the facts allow. Coherence creates scale before headcount or concrete does.
Build the chain without pretending every link already exists
My goal is not to build a collection of disconnected brands. It is to develop a pharmaceutical thesis capable of understanding a medicine problem, developing the right response and eventually helping deliver it with quality and resilience. PHARMORIS is where the current NEUVIOR work begins. VARUNÉ Labs makes the longer range development and infrastructure horizon visible. My responsibility is to earn any future connection through evidence, rights, governance and operating capability.
